Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as local storage, store small amounts of data in your browser. This policy covers both.

2. How Sited uses cookies

Sited does not use advertising cookies. We use what is strictly necessary for the site to work, plus analytics cookies only if you accept them:

  • Theme preference - stored in your browser's local storage so the site remembers whether you prefer light or dark mode.
  • Cookie choice - stored in local storage so we remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies.

3. Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-focused, cookieless service, for basic analytics. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It collects only anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as page views and referrers) and no personal information.

If you click Accept, we also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, actions such as starting a scorecard or checkout, device type and approximate location). It never receives your name, email address or the website you scan. Nothing from Google loads until you accept. Google Analytics sets these first-party cookies:

  • _ga - distinguishes one browser from another. Expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_<ID> - keeps the state of your current session. Expires after 2 years.

Google processes this data on our behalf. Analytics data is kept for 14 months. See Google's Privacy Policy.

4. Third-party cookies

If you purchase a report, payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe's own checkout pages. Stripe may set cookies there that are essential for secure payment processing and fraud prevention. These are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy. Sited sets no third-party cookies; the Google Analytics cookies above are first-party cookies set by Google's script, and only with your consent.

5. Managing cookies

You can change your analytics choice at any time. Withdrawing consent takes effect immediately and removes the Google Analytics cookies. You can also clear or block cookies and local storage through your browser settings - the site will still work, though it may forget your theme preference and ask for your cookie choice again.
