1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as local storage, store small amounts of data in your browser. This policy covers both.
2. How Sited uses cookies
Sited does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use only what is strictly necessary for the site to work:
- Theme preference - stored in your browser's local storage so the site remembers whether you prefer light or dark mode.
- Cookie notice dismissal - stored in local storage so we don't show you the cookie notice again after you dismiss it.
3. Analytics
For website analytics we use Umami, a privacy-focused, cookieless service. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It collects only anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as page views and referrers) and no personal information.
4. Third-party cookies
If you purchase a report, payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe's own checkout pages. Stripe may set cookies there that are essential for secure payment processing and fraud prevention. These are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy. Sited itself sets no third-party cookies.
5. Managing cookies
Because we only use essential storage, there is nothing to opt out of that would not break basic site functionality. You can clear or block cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings - the site will still work, though it may forget your theme preference.
