Our position
Agent Readiness is where AI visibility is going
Today, AI visibility asks one question. When someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity for a recommendation, does your brand appear? That question matters, and it is what Sited audits. But it is step one of something bigger.
AI search is becoming agentic. People are starting to delegate whole tasks, like “find me a supplier, check their terms, get me a quote”, to autonomous agents that browse, read, compare, and act. When that becomes normal, the question changes from “can AI find you?” to “can an agent confidently complete work using your website?”
We call that Agent Readiness. Search visibility becomes one input into it, not the whole game.
What an agent needs from your site
Structured navigation
An agent should reach any key page, such as pricing, contact, or policies, in a couple of obvious steps. Clear sitemaps, breadcrumbs, and predictable URLs are how agents (and people) avoid getting lost.
Complete documentation
If your product needs explaining, the explanation must be on your site, complete and current. An agent cannot ring your sales team to fill in the gaps.
API discoverability
If you have an API, an agent should find its specification without guessing. That means a linked developer page and a discoverable openapi.json.
Explicit ownership
Who runs this site, and how do you reach them? Organization schema with contact details, a linked contact page, a real address. Agents avoid acting where accountability is unclear.
Downloadable resources
Specs, price lists, and documents an agent can fetch and cite, not information locked behind interactive widgets.
Machine-readable policies
Privacy, terms, returns, and delivery policies at guessable URLs with real content. Before an agent commits to anything on your site, it will check the rules.
How Sited measures it, honestly
Every full Sited report now includes an Agent Readiness section covering the signals above, with an indicative score. It is clearly labelled experimental: these signals are directly observable on your site, but no platform has published evidence of how they affect agent behaviour, so they do not touch your GEO Readiness Score and we will not dress them up as urgent.
That is deliberate. We hold Agent Readiness to the same standard as everything else in the report. Evidence-backed findings come first, experiments are labelled as experiments, and nothing gets manufactured urgency. As real evidence emerges about how agents choose where to transact, this measure will graduate from experimental to scored, and we will say so when it does.
What to do today
Nothing drastic. Almost everything that makes a site agent-ready (clear navigation, complete documentation, explicit ownership, readable policies) already makes it clearer for people and easier for AI to cite today. Fix your visibility first, and readiness follows from the same work.
